Sometimes we think that because we are walking and talking in our life that we have enough energy. We think of energy as something that goes "up" or "down". And we feel fine. I mean, we don't want to be dancing on the ceiling in the middle of the project meeting, do we?
Energy is not just about being "up" or "down". Energy is everything. Energy is you. Everything about your body is a structure or pathway of energy. Energy is how anything and everything comes into form and gets accomplished.
Do you have enough energy to reach or create the emotional states you would like?
Do you have enough energy to make changes in your habits?
Do you have enough energy to harness your imagination and creativity to output new products or other implemented ideas?
Do you have enough energy to cope with tension in your marriage (or to help make sure it's not there)?
Do you have enough energy to make a major life transition?
Do you have enough energy to grieve?
Energy is everything. It's how you are built and who you are (on this particular plane at least).
As you are making preparations in life, prepare your energy. If you have a presentation to give at work, if you have an exam you need to pass, if you have to visit your dysfunctional family for Thanksgiving, if you have five kids under the age of 8--prepare your energy!
What kind of energy? What do you do?
Information and energy from food (tons of calories and nutrients). Water. Oxygen (breathing; try yoga). A rest period before a period of great energy expenditure. Gentle energy use such as a daily walk or a bike ride. Sunshine. Reach out for support and validation from a friend or mentor. Let your mind rest from its thoughts. Let your body rest from manufacturing emotions (including adrenaline). Relax on the porch, in a tub, in the woods.
If you are going through any life season or project that will require thought, emotion, character, or an energy state (etc) beyond walking and talking, then consider starting your morning with calorie, protein, and nutrient dense smoothie every morning. Just one example and idea.
Tend to your energy. It takes energy to parent and guide new human beings. It takes energy to be in love. It takes energy for leadership. It takes energy to hold and release sadness. It takes energy to overcome bad habits and addictions.
Energy is everything.
