From the time we are born and as we grow, we are trained by our immediate family and thereafter by the local culture we are situated in and the media we are exposed to. We are trained into perception--perception of who we are, of who everybody else is, of what the world is and how to navigate it. We are trained into what our options for reaction are to given situations and stimulus.
As we get even older and move into adulthood, we find out that these trained perceptions and reactions either serve us, or they don't. In fact, many of our reactions imprison us, destroy us, and lead us to places in life we really don't want to end up. But it might not occur to us that there are other reaction and perception options no one has presented to us yet. We may believe that things just are what they are. We may believe that everyone thinks, feels and sees like we do, given the same situation (they don't; everyone had different training). We don't realize that we can be proactive about selecting and practicing our perception and reaction choices and options.
How do people who are healed and at peace react? How do they perceive life and their challenges? Ask yourself this question and also go on a search for some examples. Take the opportunity to learn new thoughts, paradigms and reaction options that might serve you better in the situations you commonly face in life and that commonly bring you down.
